Die Apokryphe Bibel

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by Hans-Josef Klauck, Die Apokryphe Bibel Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.

Grundriss Der Geschichte Der Philosophie Begr Ndet Von Friedrich Die Philosophie Der Kaiserzeit Und Der Sp Tantike

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by Christoph Riedweg, Grundriss Der Geschichte Der Philosophie Begr Ndet Von Friedrich Die Philosophie Der Kaiserzeit Und Der Sp Tantike Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by Hans-Josef Klauck, Studien Zum Korpus Der Johanneischen Schriften Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.

How Repentance Became Biblical

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by David A. Lambert, How Repentance Became Biblical Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download How Repentance Became Biblical books, Winner of the AAR's 2016 Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion: Textual Studies How Repentance Became Biblical tells the story of repentance as a concept. Many today, in both secular and religious contexts, assume it to be a natural and inevitable component of our lives. But, where did it originate? How did it become so prominent within Western religious traditions and, by extension, contemporary culture? What purposes does it serve? The book identifies repentance as a product of the Hellenistic period, where it was taken up within emerging forms of Judaism and Christianity as a mode of subjective control. It argues that, along with the rise of repentance, a series of interpretive practices, many of which remain in effect to this day, was put into place whereby repentance is read into the Bible and the Bible, especially the Hebrew Bible, or Old Testament, comes to be seen as repentance's source. Ancient Israelite rituals, such as fasting, prayer, and confession, all of which are incorporated later on within various religious communities as forms of penitential discipline, are understood as external signs of internal remorse. Hebrew terms and phrases, such as the prophetic injunction to "return to YHWH," are read as ancient representations of the concept, repentance. Prophetic literature as a whole is seen as serving a pedagogical purpose, as aiming at the reformation of Israel as a nation. Furthermore, it is assumed that, on the basis of the Bible, sectarians living in the late Second Temple period, from the Dead Sea sect to the early Jesus movement, believed that their redemption depended upon their repentance. In fact, the penitential framework within which the Bible is interpreted tells us the most about our own interpretive tendencies, about how we privilege notions of interiority, autonomy, and virtue. The book develops other frameworks for explaining the biblical phenomena in their ancient contexts, based on alternative views of the body, power, speech, and the divine, and, thereby, offers a new account of repentance's origins.

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by Ismo Dunderberg, Gnostic Morality Revisited Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Gnostic Morality Revisited books, While the early Christian texts discussed in this book are often treated as "gnostic" ones, they are here approached as witnesses to the views of educated Christians engaged in dialogue with philosophical traditions. Following the idea that ancient philosophical schools provided their adherents with ways of life, Ismo Dunderberg explores issues related to morality and lifestyle in non-canonical gospels and among groups that were gradually denounced as heretical in the church. He deals with the soul's progress from material concerns to a life dominated by spirit, the control of emotions, the avoidance of luxury, the ideal "perfect human" as a tool in moral instruction, classifications of humankind into distinct groups based on their moral advancement, and Christian debates about the value of martyrdom. In addition, he offers a critical review of some recent trends and attitudes in New Testament scholarship.

The Gnostics

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by David Brakke, The Gnostics Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Gnostics books, Brakke writes a pioneering study of the way the demon role relates to religious thinking and to cultural anxieties. The author’s sources include biographies of exceptional monks, collections of monastic sayings and stories, letters from ascetic teachers to their disciples, sermons, community rules, and biblical commentaries. When monks imagined the resistance that they had to overcome in cultivating their selves or the temptation that offered an easier path, they saw supernatural beings that could take the shapes of animals, women, boys, and false angels in their attempts to seduce monks away from their devotion to God. And when they considered the inclinations in their own selves that opposed their best intentions, they concluded that demons introduced such problematic “thoughts” to their minds. Although the last twenty years has seen an explosion of scholarship on early Christian asceticism, producing brilliant explorations of the body, sexual renunciation, fasting, and gender, combat with demons has been left relatively unexplored.

Physiologien Der Bilder

Poetics Of The Gnostic Universe by Maurice Saß, Physiologien Der Bilder Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.
