Recent Advances In Magnetism Of Transition Metal Compounds Festschrift In Honour Of Professor K Motizuki Book Description

by Akio Kotani, Recent Advances In Magnetism Of Transition Metal Compounds Festschrift In Honour Of Professor K Motizuki Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Recent Advances In Magnetism Of Transition Metal Compounds Festschrift In Honour Of Professor K Motizuki books, This book is a Festschrift in honour of Professor Kazuko Motizuki on the occasion of her retirement from Osaka University. She has been active in a variety of branches of solid state physics and, in particular, has made an important contribution to the theory of magnetism. The book reviews recent advances in magnetism of transition metal compounds, both for itinerant electron systems and localized spin systems. For the former systems, band calculational methods, correlation effects, and theoretical aspects of photoemission spectroscopy are reviewed generally, and then recent progress in the theoretical and experimental understanding of magnetic properties of various kinds of intermetallic compounds and intercalation compounds of transition-metal dichalcogenides are reviewed in detail. For the latter systems, attention is focused on quantum effects, frustration and competing interaction in low-dimensional systems. Main subjects treated in the book are Haldane gap-systems, singlet-ground-state systems, triangular spin systems, and quantum spin chains with competing interactions.

Recent Advances In Group Theory And Their Application To Spectroscopy Book Description

by John C. Donini, Recent Advances In Group Theory And Their Application To Spectroscopy Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Recent Advances In Group Theory And Their Application To Spectroscopy books, The last few years have seen a resurgence in the applications of group theory to the problems posed by various characteristics of transition metals and lanthanides. In particular with the commercial availability of more sophisticated experimental tech niques; such as Magnetic Circular Dichroism (M.C.D.), Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (E.P.R. or E.S(pin).R.) and Single Crystal Polarised Spectra; experimental data of a much more sophisticated and selective nature than the old stand-by; absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibility; has become available. This new wealth of high quality experimental data thus pre sents challenges of interpretation and organization of the data which the new developments in group theory strive to meet. The wealth and quality of this new data makes the nuances and differences implicit in the traditional strong and weak field approach testable. Thus, these approaches can be tested more fully and new formalisms can be meaningfully tested, by comparison to experiment. Hence the characteristic implicit in the strong and weak field approaches are revealed by studies into their formal structures as exemplified by Drs. E. Konig, S. Kremer, and S. Piepho. Similarly, works proceed apace on the knotty problem of correlation and gen eralization of these properties through approaches such as those of Drs. P. H. Butler, J. C. Donini and M. Kibler. On a similar vein the deep structure of group representation and correlations of representation of various groups is explored by the afore mentioned and by Drs. Fritzer, Patera and Sharp.

Recent Advances In Density Functional Methods Book Description

by Delano Pun Chong, Recent Advances In Density Functional Methods Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Recent Advances In Density Functional Methods books, In the last few years, much attention has been given by theoretical chemists to the development of more accurate model functionals and faster computational techniques including excited electronic states. The 8th International Conference on the Applications of Density Functional Theory to Chemistry and Physics, held in Rome, Italy, on 6-10 September 1999, gathered chemists and physicists to present and discuss state-of-the-art methodological developments and applications of density functional theory (DFT) to increasingly complex systems. The scientists shared their knowledge and experience in DFT, enabling them to face the challenges posed by the needs of high level modeling and simulation in their disciplines. The meeting was opened with an exciting lecture delivered by Nobel laureate W Kohn. The growing use of DFT in studying organic, inorganic and organometallic molecules, clusters and solids provided the basis for the success of the conference, whose main contributions are collected in this invaluable book.

Recent Advances In Novel Materials For Future Spintronics Book Description

by Xiaotian Wang, Recent Advances In Novel Materials For Future Spintronics Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Recent Advances In Novel Materials For Future Spintronics books, As we all know, electrons carry both charge and spin. The processing of information in conventional electronic devices is based only on the charge of electrons. Spin electronics, or spintronics, uses the spin of electrons, as well as their charge, to process information. Metals, semiconductors, and insulators are the basic materials that constitute the components of electronic devices, and these types of materials have been transforming all aspects of society for over a century. In contrast, magnetic metals, half-metals (including zero-gap half-metals), magnetic semiconductors (including spin-gapless semiconductors), dilute magnetic semiconductors, and magnetic insulators are the materials that will form the basis for spintronic devices. This book aims to collect a range of papers on novel materials that have intriguing physical properties and numerous potential practical applications in spintronics.
