The Biology Of Subcellular Nitric Oxide Book Description

by Tamas Roszer, The Biology Of Subcellular Nitric Oxide Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Biology Of Subcellular Nitric Oxide books, This book fills in a gap in the NO literature. Recent progress in the field of NO-biology shows that NO is generated within distinct cell compartments, including specific plasma membrane regions, mitochondria, chloroplasts, peroxisomes, the Golgi-complex and intracellular membrane systems. NO synthesis plays specific roles in these compartments and, in turn, cell organelles also control intracellular NO levels. This monograph focuses on the roles played by the subcellular NO-signaling microdomains in the prokaryote-, fungus-, plant- and animal cells and shows how NO behaves as an intracellular signal in distinct cellular environments. This monograph also provides a summary of our knowledge on how NO synthesis came through evolution to be associated with organelles and subcellular compartments. Promotes the novel ideas that some functions of NO and its associations with subcellular units have been conserved during the evolution of the cell. A special chapter is dedicated to the biomedical relevance of subcellular NO synthesis, and this chapter also discusses the evidence that altered compartmentalization of NO-producing enzymes causes disease.

Nitric Oxide Donors Book Description

by Peng George Wang, Nitric Oxide Donors Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Nitric Oxide Donors books, Nitric oxide is a highly potent regulatory molecule with great pharmaceutical potential. This handbook fills a real gap in combining the chemistry of nitric oxide releasing substances with their practical applications in biology and drug design. It covers all classes of nitric oxide donors, from organic nitrates to nitroso compounds, guanidines and metal-NO complexes. In addition to a detailed treatment of the chemistry of NO donors, numerous examples of successful diagnostic and pharmacological applications are discussed, as well as further therapeutic targets for these substances.

Nitric Oxide In Plants Book Description

by Y.Y. Leshem, Nitric Oxide In Plants Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Nitric Oxide In Plants books, This book - the first published on this topic in plants - presents the reader with an overview of recent research on nitric oxide (NO) in plants, which, in view of its empirical interest and its growth regulatory potential, is in the forefront of scientific endeavor in plant science. Subject matter is divided into two parts: Part 1 deals with NO and peroxynitrite biochemistry and regulative mechanisms as presently known in the Plant Kingdom and outlines some of the problems still awaiting clarification. Emphasis is placed on ethylene emission regulation, postharvest control, plant phytopathology and environmental stress tolerance. A further topic is plant NO, like Viagra, related to cyclic nucleotide turnover. Part 2 deals with environmental aspects of NO as an atmospheric pollutant and discusses endogenous means which plants at times employ to cope with this particular type of stress, and how their coping mechanisms may be harnessed for purposes of depollution and augmentation of nitrogen fertilization. The text, accompanied by a wealth of illustrations and annotated references, is intended for lecturers, advanced students and research scientists at universities and research institutes dealing with plant sciences and agriculture, as well as for environmental researchers.

Nitric Oxide Protocols Book Description

by Aviv Hassid, Nitric Oxide Protocols Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Nitric Oxide Protocols books, Carrying on the high standards of the much-praised first edition of Nitric Oxide Protocols, Aviv Hassid has brought together a panel of expert researchers and clinician scientists to describe in step-by-step detail the latest methodologies for the measurement of nitric oxide--and the enzyme that produces it-in biological tissues and fluids. The authors take advantage of the latest methodologies for the quantitation of biological fluids and tissues, including capillary electrophoresis, microcoaxial electrodes, in vivo measurement of nitric oxide in exhaled air, confocal microscopy, gas chromatography, in situ hybridization, and real-time polymerase chain reaction. Chapters on the measurement of the novel products of nitric oxide, such as nitrated proteins, S-nitrosylated proteins, and dioxygen-dependent NO metabolism, are also included. Additional chapters address the expression of nitric oxide synthase via the use of viral vectors in gene therapy for erectile dysfunction and cancer, as well as in retrovirus, adenovirus, or adenoassociated virus-mediated expression of nitric oxide synthase in vivo. The protocols follow the successful Methods in Molecular BiologyTM series format, each one offering step-by-step laboratory instructions, an introduction outlining the principle behind the technique, lists of equipment and reagents, and tips on troubleshooting and avoiding known pitfalls. State-of-the-art and highly practical, Nitric Oxide Protocols, 2nd ed., offers investigators and clinican/scientists a gold-standard collection of readily reproducible analytical techniques for measuring levels of nitric oxide and determining its manifold functions and effects.

Nitric Oxide Book Description

by Jean-Luc Balligand, Nitric Oxide Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Nitric Oxide books, Nitric oxide (NO) has been discovered to play a fundamental role in a number of biological phenomena. This book describes various aspects of nitric oxide biology, physiology and pharmacology. It is divided into three sections. The first part deals with the basic chemistry and enzymology of NO, thus laying a molecular basis for what follows. The middle part surveys the physiological roles of NO under normal conditions. The concluding part explores the relevance of NO to disease, both as a pathogenic factor and a therapeutic target. The book thus provides detailed information on NO biology to the reader unfamiliar with the field and represents a reference work for scientists working in an NO-related field of biomedical research. Each chapter, written by experts in their fields, gives a broad introduction followed by a comprehensive review of the current knowledge and a detailed reference list.
